Work has started to build the new St Mary's Handbridge Centre.

Extra land to accommodate the new building has been leased from the Grosvenor Estates , and last week the old Church Hall was knocked down.

The new Centre is due to open in June next year. It will be approximately twice the size of the old hall and will consist of a large hall with seating for 120, two community rooms, each seating 25, a well-equipped kitchen, and a café and social area.

The Centre will provide a hub for Handbridge community activities across the whole age range, from the very young through to the elderly. The provision of a hall and two community rooms is designed to meet the needs of a range of organisations, groups and clubs.

Updates on progress to follow........
