We are delighted to announce that St Mary’s Parochial Church Council has made the decision to go ahead with building the new St Mary’s Handbridge Centre, replacing the existing Church Hall.
The work is expected to start at the end of July 2017 and the build is estimated to take approximately 9 months.
The cost of building is £1.6 million and so far £1.1 million has been raised from grants, generous donations and fundraising by the church congregation and the Handbridge community. Other grants and donations are anticipated but this will still mean that there will be shortfall in the target of around £250,000.
To meet this anticipated shortfall, the PCC has had to take out a loan of £250,000, so we will have to continue with the fundraising efforts for the foreseeable future.
We
are very grateful to all the individuals and groups who have already raised
money for the new Centre through the events and activities that have been organized.
